The Hobbit Desolation Of Smaug

Well here it is, the second instalment of the Hobbit, named The Desolation Of Smaug it continuos on from where the unexpected journey left off. I have high hopes for this film with its great storyline, genius director and of course its very impressive cast. We also see a new and old face return to the franchise Orlando Bloom playing Legolas who featured in the previous trilogy Lord Of The Rings which belongs to the same franchise, he is back and I can’t wait to see him and how he fits into the story. Of course there are other new cast members as well to look forward to such as Evangeline Lilly and the voice of the Smaug the highly talented Benedict Cumberbatch.

Now onto the storyline its finely the time when Bilbo is forced to confront the mighty dragon Smaug, but thats not all in this movie we  get see more of the mysterious dark necromancer living in the ruins of a castle. It’ll be exciting to see how the to stores intertwine not to mention the appearance of Legolas which has had many LOTR fans particularly excited about this movie. I hope to get the chance to review it soon so keep on the look out for that.

Because of his uniqueness and ability to come up with new and creative ideas Martin Scorsese takes out number 4 on our top 5 directors.

5) Peter Jackson: Peter Jackson is probably the second most famous director under Steven Spielberg. Though he can be inconsistent with the quality of his movies, I believe the Lord Of The Rings Saga and the Hobbit Saga are good enough to earn him a place at number five on our top 5 directors. Also look out for his new movie The Hobbit: Desolation Of Smaug which I shall be posting about in the up coming days.

Movie Of The Week: Johnny English Reborn

Johnny-English-Reborn-Pictures-4

Johnny English Reborn

  • Date Released: 2011
  • Genre: Comedy/Adventure
  • Director: Oliver Parker
  • Stars: Rowan Atkinson, Rosamund Pike, Dominic West.

Description:

Johnny English was one of the most entertaining movies of its type when it was first released back in 2003. As you can probably tell, this is the continued adventures of the hilarious secret agent Johnny English who has come out of retirement after a national security disaster which he is held responsible for. He has been called back into service because a contact wants to relay important information to him about a terrorist organization that wants to assassinate the Chinese ambassador which could plunge Britain into war. The story follows his attempts to investigate and stop this assassination attempt, with plenty of typical Johnny English comedy as with the first. So if your looking for a hilarious family comedy I would recommend this to you.

Hunger Games Catching Fire REVIEW

Welcome to the Hunger Games Catching Fire in Depth Review

The Hunger Games trilogy is one of the most popular book series’s in the world, but we are not here to talk a bout the book. The first Hunger Games was kinda a half-half movie half the people liked it and the others not so much. To be truthfully honest the first one took to long to get into the actual story and there wasn’t really the curiosity and a suspense of the book.

This second movie named after the second book in the trilogy, is admittedly better than the first, with the action packed thrill and suspense of the book being incorporated directly into the movie. Of course the story is pretty hard set and as I said in a previous post, the director, amazingly talented Francis Lawrence didn’t have much room to spread his wings but he has created something truly amazing out of what he was given.

Of course large parts of the book were left out but that is the case with most novel-based movies, but the essentials are still there and the events haven’t been twisted completely put of proportion. I believe Francis created an absolutely brilliant suspense when Katniss was about to enter the arena the music, the camera angles, everything was spot on, I really felt what Katniss would have been feeling, the fright, the hopelessness and of course the sadness and guilt of being forced to kill the other victors. The director managed to incorporate more of this brilliant combination throughout the movie giving it an absolutely brilliant atmosphere.

On the actors side of things we have the same great line-up from the first movie, Jennifer Lawrence playing Katniss, Josh Hutcherson as Peter Mellark and the terrific Liam Hemsworth as Gale. But some new faces have joined the crew, one of them being the one and only Sam Clafin from Snow White and the Huntsmen who plays the handsome, charming and slightly unstable Finnick Odare.

As we draw nearer to the trilogy finale we grow increasingly more excited to see what the Hunger Games producers will create to finish of the series with a BANG, but until then we are just going to have to wait and see, if the too movies that have already been released have anything to tell us its that its only gonna get better and better.

Thor The Dark World REVIEW

Thor-the-Dark-World

Thor The Dark World REVIEW

Welcome to the Thor The Dark World in Depth Review

Thor The Dark World is the longly anticipated sequel to Thor which to be truthfully honest was just a lead up to the Avengers   this made it pretty rubbish, and in fact quite disappointing because Thor is one of the biggest super-heros in the Marvel Universe and you’d expect his first movie to be unique and impressive, but no, they just decided to make it a big build up to the Avengers just sought of like a prologue.

Luckily however this is the movie that the first one was meant to be, which is very unlike sequels to be better than the original, but here is proof it can happen. It continues on from after the Avengers, Loki is now in prison and Thor is going around settling disputes throughout the nine realms. I think the transition between the two movies was great and flowed smoothly with no question being unanswered or raised.

Of course the story is based heavily on the strange relationship between the two brothers (Thor and Loki) and it forces them to unite despite there hatred for each other, the way the movie does this is simply superb appealing to each of the brothers personalities. For Thor the protection of Asgard and for Loki vengeance on his step-mothers killers (this was probably the only person he truly loved).

The movie puts on spectacular performance with numerous twists that’ll keep you awake through the whole movie. As well as the great storyboard and the way the brothers are integrated into that storyboard. Then comes the truly phenomenal acting in this film especially from Tom Hiddleston who plays Loki who was the villain in the both Thor 1 and the Avengers and despite all the evil crimes he has committed Tom Hiddleston portrays him in a way that you just can’t help to root for him and to be truthfully honest only a handful of actors could pull of such a complex role.

Along with Tom Hiddleston comes of course Chris Hemsworth who plays the mighty Thor, Natalie Portman from the first Thor movie who plays the beautiful Jane Foster, Stellan Skarsgard who stared in all three of the movies Thor has featured in and plays the completely wacko but genius professor Erik Selvig, along with this highly talented group comes the new face of Christopher Eccleston famous for playing the 9th Doctor in Doctor Who he now plays the Dark Elves Leader Malekith an evil creature bent on trying to return the universe to how it was before the nine realms.

All in all I believe that this is a really great movie with brilliant actors and writers and a really good overall feel. So good job Marvel if only you made the first one this good.
